Why Does SSS Require ACOP?
SSS conducts an ACOP to ensure that pension benefits are given only to living and qualified members. This protects the SSS fund and ensures that benefits go to the right people.
When Should You Complete Your ACOP?
SSS usually announces the ACOP schedule at the beginning of each year. The deadline is typically set months in advance. You should check the SSS website or social media pages for the specific dates for the current year.
It is best to complete your ACOP as early as possible so your pension is not delayed or stopped.
How to Complete Your SSS ACOP
Option 1: Visit an SSS Branch
This is the most common way to complete ACOP. Bring the following:
• Your SSS UMID card or any valid government ID with photo and signature
• Your pension card or SSS passbook if you have one
Once at the branch, tell the officer you are there for ACOP. They will verify your identity and update your records.
Option 2: Do It Online via My.SSS
If you are registered at My.SSS (the SSS online portal), you may be able to complete your ACOP online. Log in to your account and look for the ACOP or Pensioner Existence Verification option.
Other Option: ACOP may be done through mail or email
What If You Cannot go to SSS Yourself?
If you are sick, have a disability, or cannot travel, you can authorize a representative to do your ACOP for you. Your representative must bring:
• A signed authorization letter from you
• Your valid ID and their own valid ID
• Any additional documents SSS may require
Call the SSS hotline at 1455 first to confirm what documents are needed for ACOP via a representative.
Schedule of Compliancе
Existing pensioners who are required to comply with the ACOP Program shall report to the SSS on the following schedule:
Type of Pensioner:
- Retirement - birth month of the pensioner
- Total disability - birth month of the pensioner
- Death/Survivor - birth month of the deceased member
- Dependent children under guardianship - birth month of the member/deceased member
What if You Miss the ACOP Deadline?
If you miss the deadline, your pension will be temporarily stopped. However, you can still complete your ACOP at any time. Once you do, your pension will be re-activated and any missed payments may be given to you as back pay.
Do not ignore ACOP — it only takes a few minutes, but it ensures your pension keeps coming every month.
